Troy- Vera Lister age 100 passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Eddy Memorial in Troy. She was born in Hartlepool, England to the late Harry and Mae Bishop. Vera served in the British Navy during WWII and participated in the breaking in the German Enigma Code. She came over to the United States in 1950 and married James L. Lister whom she had met during the war. Mrs. Lister was a longtime resident of Avon by the Sea, NY and was a homemaker for most of her life. Wife of the late James L. Lister. Beloved mother of James B. (Elizabeth) Lister. Grandmother of Christopher and the late Jennifer Lister. Step grandmother of Karen Clark, Betsy Rider and Harry Lister. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 11:30 AM at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery in Tinton Falls, NJ. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, NY, Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in Vera's memory may be made to the Avon United Methodist Church, 507 Garfield Avenue, Avon By The Sea, NJ 07717.
