Obituary of Patricia Jean Jackson

Rensselaer-Patricia Jean Jackson, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and esteemed member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, at the age of 81.  Born on March 21, 1942, in St. Albans, VT, was the daughter of the late Raymond A. Roberts and Eva Maskell-Roberts.

Patricia was a lifelong resident of the City of Rensselaer.  Patricia's commitment to public service was exemplified through her work as an administrative manager for the NYS Senate from 1979 to 2009.  Patricia tirelessly served the community as the Alderwomen and Counsel Women for the 9th Ward in Rensselaer from 1978 to 2009.  Her dedication to shaping the betterment of Rensselaer will forever be remembered by her constituents who relied on her unwavering support and guidance.

Outside of her political involvement, Patricia selflessly dedicated her time to numerous civic organizations.  She actively chaired the Heart Fund in Rensselaer, sharing her compassionate nature to raise awareness and funds for the cause.  Patricia also served as a Notary Public, ensuring the authenticity of important documents in her community.

As a devoted mother, Patricia actively participated in various parent-teacher organizations, including her roles as President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Van Rensselaer PTA.  She also held the position of Vice President of the Rensselaer Boys Club, where she advocated for the well-being and development of the youth.

Patricia's commitment to the betterment of education carried on as a member of the Parent-Teacher-Student Association, promoting a collaborative environment for students, parents, and educators.  Additionally, Patricia lent her expertise and support to the Rensselaer Little League, Babe Ruth, and Pop Warner Football Committees, encouraging children to engage in sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.

Beloved wife of the late John David Jackson, Sr.  Loving mother of John David Jackson, Jr. (Krista Stevenson-Jackson), Randy Alan Jackson, and the late Tina Marie Jackson.  Grandmother of Holly Rivers (Johnny Rivers), Joseph Rivenburgh, Adam Rivenburgh, Jordan Jackson, Kyle Jackson.  Great grandmother of Jennah and Shawn Perez, David and Ella Rivenburgh, and Lia, Karina, and Austin Jackson.  Great-great grandmother of Novah and Josie Sousa.  Sister of Wayne Roberts, Donna Burnham, Debbie Kannes, and the late Raymond Roberts, Marilyn Kenneston, Joan Clark, Thomas Roberts, Darlene Reed, Carol Goldberg, Jim Roberts, Bill Roberts, and Ron Roberts.  

Patricia’s family would also like to thank Sara, Shawn, Alan, Jean, Kathy, Nancy, Rebecca, Ricky, Karen, Manuel, Jackie, and Regina for their friendship, love, and unwavering support before and after her time of need.  Patricia’s funeral service will be held at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 6:30 pm.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service on Tuesday from 4-6:30 pm.  A private burial will be held for immediate family and friends.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League of the Greater Capital District through Animalovers.org.
