Obituary of Frederick J. Martin, Sr.

Selkirk-Frederick J. Martin Sr, age 62, of Selkirk, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 14, 2024. He was born March 6th, 1961 to the late Leroy T. and Joan H. (Leno) Martin. 

Fred was a man who enjoyed making others laugh and was happiest when spending time with his dog Nala and cruising in his 1982 Monte Carlo. Before his retirement Fred spent the last 30 year happily employed at Metro Ford, where he made many lifelong friends. Fred spent his youth surrounded by his cousins and always made family a priority.

Fred is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Meghan Martin (Paul) of Hudson Falls N.Y., Heather Martin of Selkirk N.Y., Amber (Martin) Withum (Nic)of Simonton T.X., Josh Martin of Hudson Falls N.Y. and Freddy Martin Jr. (Megan) of Gloversville N.Y. & his grandchildren, Courtney, Ravin, Aden, Brianna, Aryn Liam, Riley, Ryan, Layla, Lilly, Josie, Maisabell, Lauren, Alex & Logan. As well as his beloved ex-wife Connie Martin-Warner of Rensselaer N.Y., his sisters Doddie Camp (Mark) Linda Martin & his late brother Michael Martin. Fred played a significant role in the lives of many including Shane Hornberger, Richard & Zachary Warner.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4-7pm to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer NY. A funeral home service will be held at 10am on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Fred’s honor to Mohawk Humane Society, Menands N.Y.
