Obituary of Marie A. Montgomery

North Greenbush – Marie Anderson Montgomery passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospice.  Marie was born February 26, 1933, in Troy and resided in North Greenbush since 1959.

Marie graduated from Troy High School in 1951.  She worked for New York State Department of Taxation and Finance from 1951 – 1955 and at Hudson Valley Community College for 15 years as a Data Entry Operator before retiring in March of 1988.

Marie was a lifetime communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church, an Altar Guild Member and volunteered her time at the thrift shop.  She enjoyed staying active by spending time in her cherished garden, tending to her beautiful flowers, working on various puzzles, bowling with the Wynantskill Seniors. Above all, she relished spending time with her family, enjoying summer camp at Hedges Lake, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events and holding her great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, J. Robert Montgomery. Survived by two daughters, Deborah (John) DeLuca and Susan (Frank) Tessier, sister Marion Stuarts, brother Paul (Ann) Anderson, grandchildren Michelle (Matt) Edmunds, Nicole Tessier (Angela), Frank (Colleen) Tessier, Michael DeLuca, great-grandchildren Henry and Graham Edmunds, Everly Tessier and Kira DeLuca.  Predeceased by her parents Albin and Marie Anderson, her brother, Rev. Albert Anderson and her twin brother, Ronald Anderson.

Funeral service will be from St. John’s Episcopal Church 146 1^st Street, Troy, NY 12180 Friday, January 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, January 4, to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer from 4-7PM.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  Contributions in her memory may be made to St. John's Episcopal 146 1^st Street, Troy, NY 12180.
