Obituary of Diane W. Crosby

EAST GREENBUSH - Diane W. (Smith) Crosby, of East Greenbush, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Albany, N.Y., she was the youngest daughter of the late Robert and Henrietta (Venema) Smith. Diane graduated from Van Rensselaer High School. She enjoyed a 30+ year career as a dental assistant, building lasting friendships with colleagues and patients with her friendliness, humor, and amazing smile. She was a member of the Capitol Hill Choral Society, and enjoyed cooking, decorative painting, paper crafting, and loved Cape Cod, and the Bahamas. She was an active member of the VRHS Alumni Association and helped to plan many class reunions. Diane fiercely loved her family, children, grandchildren, friends and her cats, Bennie, Freddie, Mollie and Peekie. Diane leaves many survivors, including her treasured sisters; Marcia Reimann, Laura Birmingham, and Bobbi Barhydt, her cherished children; David Kaufmann, and Carrie (Salvatore) Graziano, her beloved grandchildren; Juliana Diane, Robert and David, and her dearest friend; Shirley Orth, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Diane is also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, William Reimann and John Barhydt.

A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January  8, 2023, at the Bloomingrove Cemetery, North Greenbush, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diane may be made to the Hudson-Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, N.Y. 12204, and would be sincerely appreciated.
