Obituary of Thomas J. Watterson

Albany, NY – Thomas J. Watterson, age 66, passed away peacefully at his home on, December 29, 2023, with family by his side. He was born at Shirley US Army Hospital, Shirley, MA on January 7, 1957, and was one of seven children born to the late Robert T. and Julie A. Watterson of North Greenbush, NY. He attended several grade schools in the US and abroad and graduated from Henry Hudson High School in Highlands, NJ before joining the United States Army at the age of 17, serving from 1975 to 1978. Afterwards, Thomas enjoyed many different occupations before settling in Albany, NY where he loved to spend time outdoors, fishing, writing, chess, painting and being with family. Thomas is survived by his sisters Mary Ellen Gunter, Carol Jenks and Patricia Carr and brothers Robert Watterson, John Watterson and Paul Watterson.
Funeral mass Friday, January 12 at 11:00am at Saint Henry’s Church, 39 Old Rte. 66, Averill Park, NY 12108. Arrangements are under the direction of the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, New York 12144. Private burial service after the mass.
