Obituary of Gerald H. Lauer

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Schenectady-Gerald “Muzzy” H. Lauer, age 70, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late William H. and Margaret (Fisher) Lauer.

Muzzy was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School and went on to obtain a degree in computer programming. He later spent most of his working career as a Computer Technician at OMRDD in Schenectady.

Muzzy was known for his intense love of music. Along with his wife Debra, Muzzy attended over 400 concerts and they collected many band t-shirts and posters to remember all of the wonderful times spent. He enjoyed spending time with his friends shooting pool and was known to have an open-door policy at home when he lived in Rensselaer. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf, often working on his swing and always aiming for a hole in one.

Muzzy is survived and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Debra and their adoring son Maxwell J. Lauer.  He is also survived by his siblings, Lawrence (Kathleen) Lauer, Linda (Thomas) Haggerty, Deborah DeFilipo, Terrance Lauer, William (Denise) Lauer, Karen (Jack) Locey, Brenda (David) Fecketter; brothers-in-law, Vincent (Michele Cappelletti) Lefko and David Lefko; his best friend Johnny Pafundi and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 2-4pm. A funeral home service will follow at 4pm.
