Obituary of Loren J. Venema

  With great sadness we record the death of Loren J. Venema.  He passed away suddenly on Friday, September 22, 2023.  He was born on November 16, 1970, to James and Betty Venema.  He was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer and attended Rensselaer City Schools.

  Survivors include his parents, his loving wife of 31 years, Christine Plass Venema, his cherished daughter, Casey Lynn Venema and his brother Lance Venema.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Ashley, Derrick, Kylee, Ethan, Ashton and Gabriel and many cousins and friends.

  At the time of his passing, he was working at The Desmond.  Loren "Tex" enjoyed the outdoors, campfires, music, playing his guitar, demolition derbies, four wheeling, The Simpsons, Family Guy, his two dogs, Cotton and Moon and he loved cooking on his barbeque grill.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

  Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 4PM to 5PM at the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avene, Rensselaer with a prayer service offered at 5PM.  Burial will be private at a later date.
