Rensselaer- Joan M. Pladel, age 88, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was the daughter of Marvin J. and Grace B. (Crowe) Peacock. 

Joan was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School. After graduation she went on to marry John Pladel and raise their family in Rensselaer. Joan was part of the Festival Celebration Choir for more than 40 years. She was an avid gardener, swimmer, and loved to bake and cook, but there was nothing she love more then her family and her grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her beloved children, Debra, Kevin, Scott and Keith; her adored grandchildren, Tyler, Rudy, Sophia and Johnny; and her sister Brenda Austin.

Along with her parents, Joan is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Pladel, her son Jack and her brother Jack Peacock.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer NY. Funeral service to follow at 12pm. Burial will immediately follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
