Joan Mary Carpinello

 1941-2023

Joan Mary Carpinello passed away on April 11, 2023 at 81 years old.  She was born on November 26, 1941 to Patsy and Mary Carpinello and lived in the Albany area until 1970 when she moved to Randolph, NJ.  She lived in Morris County, NJ until moving to Huntington Beach, CA. in 2016.

Joan was a supportive, loving mom to her five children, Cheryl Pedrick (Dave), Keith Underwood (Jocelyn), Scott Underwood, Mike Underwood (Lyudmyla) and Lisa Underwood (Michael).  She has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Joan is predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Robert Carpinello and is survived by her sister Patricia Bruso.  

Joan was a high school math and computer science educator.  She served as a math textbook editor and internet support specialist for AT&T.  She explored her heritage traveling to Italy often and enjoyed cooking and procuring specialty foods.  She loved the opera and had an ongoing interest in particle physics and the Cern organization in Switzerland.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Tpke, Rensselaer on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11am and arrangements have been entrusted to W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home.  Burial will be private.
