Obituary of Karol L. Kirschenheiter

Please share a memory of Karol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

East Greenbush- Karol (Lantry) Kirschenheiter, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in East Greenbush. Born June 7, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Michael Lantry and Frieda (Stoll) Lantry. She grew up in Dix Hills and was a graduate of Commack South High School in Suffolk County, Long Island.

Karol is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Paul R. Kirschenheiter, who she married on Oct. 1, 1972. They enjoyed spending a week every year boating and fishing on Lake George and spending countless weekends camping with family at Pine Hollow Campground in Palenville. She volunteered with the Northern Dutchess Hospital Mother’s Club and enjoyed organizing craft fairs at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. Karol owned multiple businesses, including a clothing shop in Red Hook and a floral shop in Florida. She loved working with kids and was well-loved by the children at the Northern Dutchess Christian School, where she managed the cafeteria, and those she cared for at her daycare center in Rhinebeck.

Karol adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. She was the ultimate people person and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She was always on the move, whether crafting flower arrangements and wreathes, tending her gardens and growing vegetables, or cooking up the next great family recipe. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Katherine Stickles (Thomas) and Robert Kirschenheiter; three grandchildren, Lillian Mostaccio, Evelyn Mostaccio and Angel Kirschenheiter; three sisters, Kristine Olsen (Harold), Kathleen Smith, and Eileen Schroeder (Al); several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends, including her best friend, Priscilla Dow.

Family will hold a Celebration of Life in April. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
