Obituary of Vivian Rose Pratt

Our dear mother and true matriarch of our family, Vivian Rose Pratt (nee Durkee), sadly passed away on August 10, 2022 at the age of 89 in Rensselaer, New York.  Vivian was born on November 3, 1932 in Strafford, Vermont to Rachel Preston Durkee and John Durkee.  

She was married to Robert Carroll Pratt on April 19, 1952 in Montpelier, Vermont and they lived in Barre, Vermont before relocating to the State of New York.  Together they had nine children.  Vivian is survived by Gerald (Christine) Pratt of Tellico Plains, TN; Patricia Adams of Rensselaer; David (Connie) Pratt of Clemmons, NC; Shirley Daigle of Castleton; Wendell Pratt of Rensselaer; Stephen Pratt of Rensselaer; Joanne Staas-Zimmerman (Jeffrey) of Cincinnati, OH; and Marianne (Robert) Davidson of Latham, NY.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  Vivian is predeceased by her daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Robert. Vivian was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind beautiful memories as her legacy.  She was affectionately referred to as “Granny GOAT” by her family and friends.  She was employed by the State University of New York at Albany before retiring.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home in Rensselaer on Saturday, August 13 from 10:00-11:00 am. Funeral services will be immediately following at 11:00am. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
