Rensselaer- Ruth H. (Snyder) Bonacquisti, age 92 of Rensselaer passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. She was born in Rensselaer and was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Bonacquisti was a graduate of St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer and was employed by Albany Medical Center until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Rensselaer and was a member of the church’s Rosary Altar Society. Ruth was an active volunteer at St. Joseph’s Academy in Rensselaer, where her children attended school. Ceramics were a passion for her, where she gathered with friends and made so many wonderful pieces for family and friends. Mrs. Bonacquisti was an amazing cook who could make dinner for five people or fifty, and she made every holiday an elegant event.  She loved to entertain and make special memories for everyone. In addition to spending time with family, she loved getting together with the same three couples who had been friends since childhood; celebrating holidays, birthdays and playing cards for fun and pennies. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Earl, her family and friends. Ruth will always be remembered as a devoted wife and mother. Wife of the late Earl T. Bonacquisti, whom she married on April 7, 1951. Daughter of the late Charles and Veda Snyder. Mother of Cheryl Bonacquisti (the late R. Erik) Barvoets, Mark (Patricia) Bonacquisti, Carl (Kathlene) Bonacquisti, Paul (Sandra) Bonacquisti and John (Kelli) Bonacquisti. Sister of the late Esther Bulnes and Eleanor Parsons.  Grandmother of Anthony (Tanya) Bonacquisti, Lisa (Mark) Walsh, Rachel (Rick) Naughton, Michael (Gerta) Bonacquisti, Christine (Zack) Daniel, Angelina S. Bonacquisti and John T. Bonacquisti. Great grandmother of Isabella Bonacquisti, Liam and Austin Walsh, Myles and Emma Daniel, RJ Naughton and Baby Bonacquisti. The funeral will be from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Friday at 12:00 PM. All are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be Friday at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. The Bonacquisti family wishes to recognize the nursing staff of Samaritan Hospital who provided such excellent care during her stay.
