Obituary of Grace M. Kirsch

RENSSELAER Grace M. Kirsch passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at home with her family at her side. Grace was born and raised in Rensselaer, where she met and married her husband of 64 years, William J. Kirsch. Grace worked as a dental assistant prior to marriage and raising her family. She later worked as an EKG technician and in Real Estate Sales before retiring to Florida in 1992. Grace and Bill enjoyed an active and rewarding retirement in Florida for over a quarter-century. They enjoyed golfing, swimming, participating as active members of the local German Club, and Country Line Dancing. Grace also started painting, producing many beautiful works. Grace was predeceased by her husband Bill, her son Steve (Page), brothers, Ted (Fran) Gilbert, Ed (Pat) Gilbert and sisters Kay (Jack) Haggerty and Peggy Homer. She is survived by her children, Tim (Sue) Kirsch, Gayle (Ron) Durivage, Ned (Vivian) Kirsch, and Amy (Bill) Weitzel; along with 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home at 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer on Friday, July 1st from 3-5 PM. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Grace’s name to American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
