Karen Savicki

Obituary of Karen J. Savicki

Please share a memory of Karen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Karen Jane Savicki went to be with her Fabulous lord Jesus Christ on November 4, 2021.  She was surrounded by her loving husband, son and daughter as she went peacefully, after losing the fight to COVID-19 Pneumonia.  She was 61 years young.

Karen was born in Bellevue, PA on April 8, 1960. She graduated from Northgate High School in 1978 and then shortly after moved to Rome, NY.   There she worked as a jewelry counter manager for Ames for nearly 10 years.  After moving to Castleton on the Hudson to be closer with her family she worked for KeyBank for many years where she made so many friends; coworkers and customers included.

Karen and Mark joined hands on July 8, 1995 and spent an amazing 26 years celebrating life. From trips to Cape Cod with friends, yearly visits to Florida to see family and get away from the cold; spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as possible and most recently enjoying a family trip to Frogtown, that she had been dreaming about for a lifetime.

Karen was predeceased by her mother Marion Heyl and father Armonde Hely. She is survived by her beloved husband Mark Savicki, son Charles Costa (Kimberly Costa) and daughter Samantha Huether (McAdam Huether). Her sisters Kathleen Lampl (Jeff Lampl) and Linda Weissert (Gary Weissert) and 6 grandchildren that meant more than the world to her Cassandra Costa, Joey Costa, Aidan Costa, Kayla Costa, Haleigh Costa and Emma Costa.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins that have been a joy in her life.

Karen enjoyed her life to the fullest.  She was always the first to offer a helping hand, whether it was a family gathering, church function, fundraising for her grandchildren and the tea parties at the local church.  But one of her most favorite memories was the Vacation Bible Study every summer for her local church. She would always say being with the kids and teaching them about Jesus was just FABULOUS.

Family and friends are welcome to join us for a celebration of Karen’s life on November 11, 2021 from 1-3pm at W.J. Lyons Funeral Home 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer NY 12144. We will be doing a small service at 3 where anyone can share any words, scriptures and/or memories they would like.  If you are unable to attend the service we will be doing a Facebook Live for the service at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers we are asking that you make a donation in Karen’s name to your local youth community as this is what she would have wanted and remember to always stay FABULOUS.
