Rensselaer- Mary K. Farinacci, age 89, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Hospice Inn with her loving daughter by her side. Mary was born in Rensselaer and was a lifelong resident. She had a passion for cooking and cared for her family her entire life. Mary was previously a nurse’s aide at various hospitals as well as being a home health care aide. She was a devout catholic, being a member of the St. Anthony Society and a lifelong communicant of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church in Rensselaer. She spread love to everyone she met, touching many lives with her compassion, care, words of encouragement, and through prayer. Mary was the daughter of the late Michael and Tomasina (Verrelli) Cristo; the wife of the late George A. Farinacci; mother of Georgeann F. (David) Greene; sister of Christine (Dominic) Turdo, Michael Patrick (Rose) Cristo, and the late Sebastian (Amelia) Cristo, Nicholas Cristo, Philomena Cristo, and infant Anthony Cristo. She was known as a second mother to Nancy Knapp, Lori and Ernie Dambrose, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, Columbia Turnpike on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Tuesday, June 15 from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Stefan Swicker and his staff, along with the hospice staff that showed Mary compassion and care during this time. Memorial contributions can be made in Mary’s memory to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.
