Murrells Inlet, SC- Carol M. Smith age 67 of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born in Albany on Nov. 28, 1947 and resided in Rensselaer and retired to Murrells Inlet, SC. Carol was a 1966 graduate of Van Rensselear High School. She worked at Aetna Life Insurance, Rensselear Boys Club, Encore Shoe Corp. and spent most of her working life until retirement with NYS Department of Civil Service. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Smith had a love for animals, especially her two chihuahuas "Buddy" and "Blue" and a few cats. Carol enjoyed the ocean and the southern charm of South Carolina. She also loved frequent trips on the casino boats and crabbing in the Inlet. Carol enjoyed researching family history and being outdoors. She was a recent survivor of lung cancer who lost her spouse to the disease. Wife of the late Charles F. Smith. Mother of Michael (Nancy Niblock-Small) and Sharon Small. Survived by her ex-spouse Roger Small. Grandmother of Ashley, John, Samantha and Emily. Great Grandmother of Charley and Brynlee. Sister of Paul, Denise, Tammy, Patrick, Martin, Kathy and Rae and the late Charles and Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Graveside service will take place Friday, Dec. 11 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Third Ave. Ext. East Greenbush at 12:00PM. All are welcome to attend
