Obituary of Alice Konieczny

Alice (Aleksandra) C. Konieczny, 89 peacefully went into eternal rest  at  Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, NY  on Tuesday, December 25, 2018.  Born on July 28, 1929 in Kadzidlo, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Aleksander and Stanislawy Sobiech and predeceased by her brothers John and Stanislaw Sobiech.  Alice grew up in Poland and immigrated to Brooklyn, NY where she met and married her husband (predeceased) of 51 years Albin J. Konieczny.   They had four children: Elizabeth Konieczny of Las Vegas, Albin (Cindi) Konieczny of Melrose, Stanley (Sue) Konieczny of East Greenbush, and Linda (Kevin) Lettko of Averill Park.

Alice was a loving grandmother “Baba” to 10 grandchildren:  Kenneth Konieczny; Christopher, Amanda and Heather Konieczny; Stephen, Matthew and Amy Konieczny; Meagan, Justin and Matthew Lettko.  She was also “Baba” to Thomas Bott.

Everyone loved Alice.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and lived for her family. She was a talented seamstress, loved to work in her flower garden, enjoyed childcare, and cooking (especially pierogies).

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 9-10am with a funeral mass to follow at 10am at Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY 12061.

A special thanks to the Van Rensselaer Manor Staff on the B-1 Unit, we cannot thank you enough for the kindness and love you've shown to Alice.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
