Rensselaer-John "Jay" Kretzler, Jr. age, 46 passed away on Saturday January 21, 2017 at memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Jay was born in Albany on March 24, 1970 and was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer. He was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. Jay Bird was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan, enjoyed baseball as well and was a Baltimore Oriole fan. Son of Sharon Kretzler and the late John J. Kretzler; brother of William (Lisa) Peasley, Paul Peasley and Kirstin (Kent) Kretzler; uncle of William Peasley, Jr., Cassondra Peasley, Kayla (Chris) Meissner, Matthew Peasley, Eric Peasley, Jenna Meissner, Cody Meissner, Alexandra Peasley, Aaron Hornburger and Alexis Hornburger; great-uncle of Ava Peasley and Jaelyn Vandeputte. Funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
