Niverville-Wayne Heimroth, 88, loving husband of Sally L. Heimroth (McComb), of Niverville, NY, passed Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Wayne was born at home in Niverville - a place he called home his entire life. Son of the late John J. Heimroth and Marie B. Heimroth (Faye). He spent his formative years with his brother John, and sister Jane enjoying an agrarian way of life. Wayne attended Martin Van Buren High School where he played football, walked to school in the snow, uphill, both ways, and met the love of his life, Sally.
Wayne and Sally were voted King and Queen of their junior prom, were married on April 14, 1956, at the Kinderhook Reformed Church and spent nearly 70 years together as husband and wife.
Following high school Wayne served in the United States Coast Guard for four years (1953-1957). Returning to his hometown and his beloved Sally, he chose to follow the path of his father, Big John. Wayne crafted a career in commercial electric work. He founded Heimroth Electrical Co. in 1969. He was also a member of Local Union No. 3 IBEW out of Flushing, NY, and Local Union No. 915 out of Tampa, FL. Wayne continually found purpose in a hard day's work well into his 70s. Additionally, Wayne served as a volunteer firefighter for many years and was a lifetime member of the Niverville Fire Department alongside his brother John.
He was most proud of being a father to Wayne Heimroth, Steven Heimroth, Mark Heimroth, Brenda Rosa (Heimroth) and David Heimroth, a grandfather to 19 and a great-grandfather to 21. Each of his grands and greats was his "#1 Grandchild". Especially so, if any other grand or great-grand were in earshot. Quick to mischievously sow petty discords and provide unsolicited advice, he will be dearly missed by all who lovingly called him Pop, Poppy Boot, Boot, Dad, or Husband.
Like us all, Wayne lived an imperfect life. However, may we all be as fortunate to live such a life - a life filled with friendships, faith, and family. Wayne lives on in the collective memories of those he touched. His legacy is boundless and can be found in the service to our country of those who followed him, in the value and joy found in work that he dutifully instilled, through the familial rivalries he stoked and through the commitment to and the struggle to find perfection.
Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with the family on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10-11am at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 62 Chatham Street, Kinderhook. A Service will follow at 11 am.
