Wallace Clarke, 94, passed away peacefully at home on March 9th. Wally loved to entertain, tell stories, and amuse his family and friends. Born in Albany, Wally graduated from St. John's Academy in Rensselaer and Sienna College in 1943. He served in the Army Air Force during the Second World War as a flight instructor. Later, he had a long, successful career in the chemical and dye industry across the Eastern United States. He is survived by Peggy, the love of his life; his brother, David Clarke; his sister, Rosemary Clarke-Newell; his daughter, Linda Guthridge, and her husband, Charles; his grandson, Mark Guthridge; his nephew, Brian Christo; along with several other nieces and nephews; and many friends. Wally enjoyed many adventures, from riding roller coasters, helicopters, and old airplanes with his grandson, to rounds of golf and walks on the beach with his beloved wife. He was most at home entertaining his friends with both stories and his harmonica at Shaker Pointe at Carondelet where he lived. A mass to celebrate his wonderful life will be held at a later date. Contributions can be made to Rensselaer County Hospice, in his name.
