Thomas J. Lasher, Jr.

Thomas J Lasher Jr, age 73, of Castleton passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, August 19, 2024. Thomas was born on April 1, 1951, in Albany, to the late Thomas and Theresa Lasher. 

Thomas is predeceased by the love of his life Cynthia Ann Lasher who came to welcome him home on their 46th wedding anniversary. Thomas was also predeceased by his brothers Ken and Ron. He is survived by siblings William (Sandy) Lasher, Debbie (David) Ferrence, Lisa Lasher, and Bobby (Rose) Lasher. Thomas is survived by his children Tommy (Joanne) Lasher, Robbie (Jess) Lasher, Stephen (Terra) Lasher, Nancy (Daryn) LaVare, Ruth (Peter) DiFiglio and deceased son and daughter in law Phillip (Kathy) Wood. Thomas is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and several great grandchildren. 

Thomas was raised in Albany. He later moved to the Schodack\ Castleton area with his wife where they raised their six children. With his passion as a diesel mechanic, he started his own business, Mobile Truck Repair, where he enjoyed working on trucks for over 15 years. Thomas also liked to work on computers and loved his motorcycle and fishing and music. He also loved being goofy with the grandkids when they were little. Thomas was known as “Uncle Gadget” to his nieces and nephews. Thomas and Cynthia loved camping at Alps Family Campground where they had a seasonal camper for years. This is where he would DJ for camp events, parties and weddings. He also put on a 4th of July fireworks display every year followed by a party in the lodge. 

In keeping with Thomas’ wishes no services will be held. The family will have a private celebration of life.
