Thomas Finn

Rensselaer-Thomas F. Finn, Jr. age, 92 years, passed away on Monday February 1, 2016. He was born in Troy and has lived in Rensselaer for 68 years. Tom was a graduate of Troy High School, Hudson Valley Community College, Union College and SUNY Albany. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. Mr. Finn was employed as a Licensed Professional Engineer for the New York Telephone Co. He was a communicant of St John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church in Rensselaer and St. Michaels Church in North Greenbush. Tom was a lifelong fisherman, taught swimming lessons for many years for the Red Cross and after retiring took up golfing and hunting. Loving husband of 68 years to Marjorie Vogl Finn; devoted father of Kathleen (Ernest) Popp and Thomas (Marilyn) Finn, III; loving grandfather of Margaret (James) Hatch, Ernest (Melissa) Popp, Jr., Elizabeth (Dana) Finn, Matthew Popp, Thomas F. (Crystal) Finn, IV and Katherine (Thomas) Myers, great-grandfather of Christopher, Natalie, Mason, Kaylee, James, Connor, Colleen, TJ, Claire, Hailey and Molly; brother of the late Elizabeth Stone and Myrtle Pettignelli; brother-in-law of Norbert and Joan Vogl. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Thursday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church Herrick Street Rensselaer, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
