Theresa V. Chenot

March 2, 1926 — April 25, 2025

North Greenbush - Theresa “Terry” Chenot passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the age of 99 following complications from a hip fracture in March.

Born on March 2, 1926 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Beatrice (Goulet) McKenna.

Terry was raised in Rhode Island and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School in Pawtucket and graduated from East High School in 1944. In 1958 when she got married, she moved to the Albany area and settled in North Greenbush where she remained, allowing her to be close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Before moving to North Greenbush she worked at various manufacturing and retail firms. While raising her children she was a devoted mother and homemaker. Later, she became the President of Greenbush Tape & Label, a family owned business that she and her former husband co-founded and started in their basement in 1966. She retired in 1986 once her sons joined the business full time.

A devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in North Greenbush, Terry attended Mass faithfully until she could no longer drive.

Terry was active and full of life - she loved bowling and participated in many leagues, including a Rocking Chair League, well into her 70's. She also enjoyed aerobics several times a week until the age of 80. Her annual vacations to Aruba with her son Bill and his family were cherished memories, as were her days by the pool soaking up the sun for her signature tan. Terry loved having her picture taken and never went anywhere without a disposable camera. She never missed an occasion to send a Hallmark greeting card or flowers to family and friends. More than anything she treasured time with her family. She will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, classy lady who never spoke an unkind word about anyone.

Terry is survived by her two sons: James (Janice) Chenot of Latham and William (Regina) Chenot of Castleton; seven grandchildren: Caitlin (Kyle) Sharp, Christie (CJ) Gordon, Jordan (Christianna) Chenot, William (Kristin) Chenot, Jr., Ryan (Elizabeth) Chenot, Patrick Chenot, and Matthew (Kiera) Chenot; a sister-in-law, Wanda Chenot; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings: John, Jr., Roger, and Richard McKenna and Irene Bento; a sister-in-law, Nancy McKenna; a brother-in-law, Robert Chenot; and the father of her children, Alfred F. Chenot.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers: Gerry Elsbree, Margot Covelli, and Breanna Abbott. Their loving care, especially Gerry's tireless presence and compassion, became a source of comfort to us all. Words alone cannot express our deepest gratitude.
