East Greenbush-With heavy hearts we share the news of the departure of Susan Joy Gaito on February 26, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering strength in the face of adversity.
In her lifetime, Susan brought joy and comfort to those around her, and her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will continue to inspire and uplift us in the days ahead.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John N. Gaito; three sons, John Gaito Jr., Robert (Donna) Gaito, Christopher (Kimberly) Gaito, and a daughter, Alison Gaito (Jason Steffey); six grandchildren, Brandyn Gaito, Morgan (Nick) Snyder, Jacob (Emily) Gaito, Haley Gaito, Andrew Gaito and Rebekah Gaito; two great grandchildren Seryna Gaito and Roman Gaito. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends who became family. Susan is predeceased by her brothers John, Thomas, Gregory and Theodore; and her grandson Gregory.
In honor of Susan’s remarkable life, calling hours will be held on Friday March 1, 2024 at 1:30pm – 3:30pm at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave Rensselaer, NY 12144. The family welcomes all that wish to join in celebrating her legacy.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 67 Saratoga Street Cohoes, NY 12047. Interment will be immediately following at St. Nicholas Cemetery, 1071 Route 9 Cohoes, NY 12047.
Following the interment we warmly invite the attendees to celebrate Susan’s life at a reception to continue a time of remembrance and celebration.
