Sheryl M. Waterbury

Sheryl M. (Henchey) Waterbury, 58 of Averill Park passed into heaven unexpectedly on Friday, August 26th, at her home.

The daughter of Joan (Gardner) Henchey and the late Joseph Henchey, Sheryl was born in Albany on November 7, 1963.

She was raised in Rensselaer and received her diploma from Rensselaer High School. Sherry married her former spouse (Joseph S. Waterbury Jr.) on March 1o, 1984 and shortly after became a military wife. She resided in Portsmouth, NH, Limestone, ME, Rome, NY and Minot, ND, she received her Associates degree in Medical Transcription from Minot State University and Bottineau University.

Sherry worked for the past 20 years at the Educational Opportunity Center in Troy as a Senior Accountants Clerk for most of her career. She was dedicated to providing assistance to those trying to improve their lives.

She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She had a compassionate and caring nature best exemplified by the words of Mother Teresa “Intense love does not measure. It just gives.” She had the kindest soul and was loved wherever she went.

Sherry is survived by her two children: Kaitlyn Waterbury (Ryan Catlin) and Allison (Waterbury) Loiselle; her three grandchildren: Maggie, Vivienne and Harper; mother: Joan Henchey; sister: Tamara Hernandez (Rafael); nieces and nephews: Rafael Jr., Joshua, Jessica, John Jr., Jennifer and Justin; former spouse Joseph S. Waterbury Jr.; loving boyfriend: Robert Melloy; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 2nd, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30pm at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY. Memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6:30PM.
