Sandra M. Kenna

Rensselaer- Sandra Michelle Kenna, 65, of Rensselaer passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospital on Monday, December 4, 2023. Sandra was born to the late Helen (Milos) and John Kenna, in Troy, NY, on October 18, 1958. She graduated in 1977 from Rensselaer High School and later continued her education at Russell Sage College where she graduated with honors in 1992. She spent the majority of her professional career working as a Registered Nurse at Northern Dutchess Hospital. She also spent some time working at Down East Community Hospital in Maine and Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. Sandra was a compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated registered nurse whose nurturing and loving characteristics touched and healed so many in need. She loved traveling to Maine, visiting the ocean, exploring new destinations, and adored her cats (especially her kitty Zoe). She loved spending time with all of her friends and family, but her children and grandchildren were her entire world. She always said that her son's were her greatest achievement by far.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her children; Philip (Veronica) Primeau and Mathieu (Selina) Primeau. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mathieu’s sons Alexander and Henry Primeau, and Philip’s son and daughter, Annabelle Primeau and Drake Schwebler. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her siblings; Gayle (Michael) Forcinella and John Kenna and her nephews, John’s sons, John, Joseph, and Joshua Kenna.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY 12144. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sandra’s family, prior to the service, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can made be made in Sandra's name to the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Sociecty, 3 Oakland Ave. Albany, NY 12204.
