Colonie - Sandra Jensen (DuLong), of Colonie, New York, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, on November 4, 1941, she was the daughter of Augustine and Dorothy Francy. Sandra graduated from Dorchester High School in 1960.
Throughout her career, Sandra worked in various roles, including those at Hamilton Printing, Hartford Insurance, and as an optometrist assistant. She also took great pride in her work as a journalist, writing a column for the Times Union. In the later years of her career, Sandra became a compassionate home health care provider, dedicating herself to helping others.
Sandra was an active member of the Colonie Elks, where she enjoyed being part of the community. She loved to travel, with one of her favorite trips being to Italy, and she thoroughly enjoyed going on cruises. Still, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, attending gatherings, and celebrating the achievements of her children and grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her companion of 20 years, Ken Dickinson. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children: Robert A. DuLong, Scott J. DuLong (Dina), and Thomas M. DuLong (Tina). She is additionally survived by her sisters, Stella Francy and Michelle Foley. Sandra was a devoted grandmother and is further survived by her grandchildren: Jessica McMullen (DuLong), Scott DuLong, Jr., Zackary DuLong, Sawyer DuLong, Joshua DuLong, Jeremy DuLong, and Jayden DuLong, Micheal, Alyssa, Hunter, and Olivia. She is also survived by her great-grandchild: Hadley McMullen. Sandra's warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 10:30am at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, 54 Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 4-6pm at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY 12144. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
