Rosemarie Garcia was 84 years old when she passed away on October 27, 2016 after 25 years of struggling with Parkinson's disease. Originally from Rensselaer and graduating from St. John's in 1950, Rosemarie lived in Boynton Beach, Florida from 2002 until last year when she moved to the Teresian house. Rosemarie is predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Arthur Lasher. She worked for many years at the Turf Inn as the receptionist. Telephone communications was definitely her forte. Rosemarie's family includes her sisters, Ruth Van Dyk and Martha Lasher-Warner, her brother, Dick Lasher and many nieces and nephews. Her Venezuelan brothers have all predeceased Rosemarie. The youngest passing just the day before her. Rosemarie loved her children, Marc and Mary Ellen Smith and Lissa and Tom McNaughton and her grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexandra, Mary Quinn, Patrick and Brendan. She only met in pictures, the newest generation of great-grandchildren, Zoe, Abel and Leona. There were many challenging years in Rosemarie's life but at the start of this millennium, she embarked on the most fulfilling and happy time of her life when she joined forces with Bob Nash. Bob and Rosemarie had great times traveling, living in Florida and enjoying fun times with neighborhood friends. As Rosemarie's health declined, Bob provided a level of care with love that few can begin to understand. A Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph's church at 50 Herrick Street in Rensselaer on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10 am. At Rosemarie's request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Teresian House (http://teresianhouse.com), whose staff took wonderful care of Rosemarie over these last 14 months.
