Robert Nunziato

North Greenbush- Robert A. Nunziato, Sr., 75, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a heroic fight. Bob was born in Albany and was the son of the late Carmen and Genevieve (Kutryb) Nunziato, and son-in-law of Joseph, Sr. and Lucy Thorpe. A graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, Albany, New York, Bob then went on to manage The Trading Port in Albany for over 25 years. Bob's life was dedicated to being a loving husband to his beloved wife, Judith A. Nunziato (Thorpe) for over 54 years. He was the cherished father of Robert Nunziato, Jr. (Becky), Mark Nunziato (Leslie), Michelle LaPorta (Mike), Donna Kelly (Randy) and Colleen Farley (Greg) and the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was the oldest of 10 siblings, Rosemary Tatko (Thomas), Joyce Rhatigan (Michael), Richard Nunziato (Kathy), Jane Grugan (the late William), Donald Nunziato (Dolly), Michael Nunziato (Jean), Christine Lochner (Keith), Patricia Colletti (Michael) and the late Janice SanFilippo. He was also brother-in-law to Joseph Thorpe, Jr. (Sharon) and Kathleen Person (John). Bob will affectionately be remembered for his contagious sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to everyone he met. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a huge New York Mets, Giants and Rangers fan. The family would like to extend their sincere thank you to the CCU staff at Albany Medical Center for their care and love of Bob. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Friday evening at 7:00PM. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the funeral home Friday prior to the service from 4-7 PM.
