Rensselaer- Paul E. Burek age 82 passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022 with his wife and three sons by his side. Born at Brady Maternity Hospital in Albany, on July 7, 1939, Paul was the son of the late Joseph W. and Frances A. (Byer) Burek. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maureen A. (Cain) Burek. Paul and Maureen were classmates at Columbia High School. Paul played football and basketball for Columbia, but his real love was football. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Green Bay Packers. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Paul was an exceptionally hard worker all his life and worked for Agway for 32 years and alongside his brother Ted at Grace Memorials. He was an avid gardener and was known for his pristine manicured lawn and beautifully designed flower gardens. In addition to his beloved wife, Paul is survived by his three loving children and their spouses; Kevin (Emelene) Burek, Robert (Cynthia) Burek and Michael (Michele) Burek. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Emelene, Thomas, Ryan, Adam, Matthew, Brandon, Amanda, and Alaina. Paul is also survived by his siblings Mary La Point, Helen Krill and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Aiden John and siblings, Agnes, Joseph, John, Stanley, Frances, Margaret, Carolyn, Thaddeus and Dorothy. Funeral will be offered in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Williams Road, Troy, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Friday evening from 4-7PM. Masks will be required at both the funeral home and the church regardless of vaccination status. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to Community Caregivers, 2021 Western Ave Ste 104, Albany, NY 12203.
