Patricia A. Carkner

August 5, 1937 — July 25, 2022

North Greenbush- Patricia A. Carkner, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home on July 25th with her loving family. She was born in Albany, NY. Daughter of the late Julius and Martha Pasqualitti. She is reunited with her husband, Richard A. Carkner, daughter, Penny Albright, and brother, Ted Derby. She grew up in Castleton, NY and was a graduate of HVCC and Saint Rose, where she received her Bachelor’s in Social Welfare. Pat’s career was characterized by her compassion for vulnerable adults at NYS Department of Developmental Disabilities, Social Services, and Health. She was a dedicated and tireless worker and outspoken advocate, making great changes to positively impact the lives of those unable to care for themselves. She even brought her patients home with her, so they could enjoy meals with her family and a home to sleep. Pat was a special woman who welcomed everyone, showed compassion and genuine deep love for every person she met. Even non-family called her Mom, Gramma, or Mema because she treated everyone like family. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, football pools, fine art, and ballet. She loved traveling with her dear friend, Carole Donnelly, especially to Venice. She loved tending to her flower gardens, sitting on her porch and watching the birds, and spending time with her family, particularly the little ones. She was survived by her children Richard Carkner (Deborah), Julianne Suscietto-Irish (Mike), David Carkner (Colleen), Daniel Carkner (Patricia), and Glen Carkner, her 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend her calling hours on Friday, July 29th from 4-7 p.m. at the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer and her memorial service on Saturday, July 30th at 11 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church at 349 Shaver Rd, West Sand Lake, NY.
