Nora Telfer

Selkirk-Nora G. Gilleran Telfer passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late James Joseph and Mary Hession Gilleran. Nora graduated from Blessed Sacrament School and Vincentian Institute High School both in Albany. After graduating from St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, she was a nurse at St. Peter's Hospital. Nora enjoyed spending time at "the farm" with family and friends and camping was a favorite activity through the years. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage. Nora is survived by her husband of 62 years, John C. Telfer, her sons John (Carol) and Joseph (Susan) Telfer and her sister, Sr. Mary Brendan (Margaret) Gilleran, CSJ. Her sister Anna Mae With predeceased her. Funeral will be Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church Herrick Street Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Wednesday prior to the funeral mass from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
