Michael Knauf

It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of our father, Michael J. Knauf, 71, of Wynantskill, who sadly left us on August 14, 2024, at the Evergreen Commons Rehab and Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Husband to the late Maureen Knauf; the proud father of Michele (Daniel) Lewitinn, Cindy (Michael) Stocklas, and TJ (Tina) Vanvorst; son of the late Marion Herrington Knauf and the late James J. Knauf; the brother of Sally (late Frank) Volks, Mary Ann (Robert) Conroy, the late Daniel Knauf, the late Patrick (Sandy) Knauf; grandfather of Kaity, Ashleigh, Joey, Mikey, Megan, Jacob, Landon, Skylar, Ayden, Charlotte; he too is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Michael was a man of wisdom and blessed with great humor. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and especially the special moments he shared with his grandchildren.

His joy of thunderstorms, deep-sea fishing and bird watching with his occasional shout out at the squirrels that would invade his bird feeders, will be forever remembered. He fell in love with Schroon Lake over 30 years ago as a member of the Rensselaer Woodman's Club.

In keeping with Michael's wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. To celebrate Michael's life, we will gather on August 25, 2024, at Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rensselaer. In lieu of traditional mourning, we welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply and who will be missed so very much.
