Mary Sandstrom-Hennigan

East Greenbush- Mary M. Sandstrom-Hennigan passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 26, 1939, to the late Mary C. and Frederick P. Sandstrom. Mary grew up in Parkchester, Bronx, NY. She graduated from the former Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, NY with a BA in Biology, as well as obtaining an MA and PhD from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, in Genetics. She taught in high school and college settings before pursuing a post doctorate at Harvard and Mass General Hospital in Cytogenetics and pre-natal diagnosis. Mary became an Associate Director of the Cytogenetics Lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1977 and retired in 2014. During retirement she and her husband moved from West Roxbury, MA to East Greenbush, NY to live closer to family. When they moved to East Greenbush in 2014, they became members of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Troy, NY.

A funeral mass will be celebrated for Mary at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 175 Williams Rd. Troy, NY 12180.
