Mary E. Gladding

WEST SAND LAKE- Mary E. Gladding, 85, died Sunday, November 13, 2022, with her family by her side. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William and Susan McMullen Volmer. Mary felt fortunate to call West Sand Lake home for over 60 years. Mary worked for the former Albany Savings Bank (now Citizens Bank) for over 30 years, beginning as a teller and becoming a branch manager prior to her retirement.

Family was most important to Mary, generously taking her entire family on cruises, to Disney World and Cape Cod. Mary didn’t think of herself as a “happy camper”, but was always willing to go, seeing it as an opportunity to make memories with her children and grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her devoted husband William, beloved son Christopher and cherished grandson David. She is survived by her children, Laurie (late Peter) Sweeney, Carol (Scott) Favreau, Joann (Michael) Veshia, and Geoff (Mary) Gladding; her grandchildren, Melissa Gladding, Aimee and Kevin Favreau, Jeffrey and Justin Veshia, Kristen Sweeney, and Christina Gladding, and her great- grandson Matthew. In accordance with her wishes, services were held privately.
