Makenzie T. Minkler

North Greenbush—Makenzie T. Minkler, 25, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Born on June 21, 1999, to Derek A. and Maria (Morse) Minkler, Makenzie lived a life full of passion and purpose.

A proud graduate of Averill Park High School, she distinguished herself as a member of the National Honor Society and earned an advanced Regents diploma. Makenzie went on to receive her bachelor’s in science from Franklin Pierce University and began her career at George Washington School in Wynantskill, where she made a meaningful impact in the Questar program.

An avid lacrosse player, she participated in both ADK Lacrosse and FPU Lacrosse (XAL). Makenzie had a deep love for animals and cherished her nephew, Jackson. She enjoyed thrifting, collecting eclectic items, boating with friends, and embracing the great outdoors, embodying the spirit of an old soul.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her beloved sisters, Morgan A. Minkler (Logan T. Frese) and Miranda O. Minkler; her nephew, Jackson T. Frese; and her grandmother, Darlene Breitenstein. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Makenzie was predeceased by her grandparents, Donald Breitenstein and Shirley M. and Donald A. Minkler.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day on Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Williams Road, Troy, at 10 AM. In honor of Makenzie’s bright spirit, we encourage guests to wear their most colorful attire as we celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Makenzie’s memory to Homeward Bound Dog Rescue, 202 Front Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
