Madison Frances Stern

July 5, 1998 — February 3, 2016

Averill Park- Madison Frances Stern, age 17 years, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Boston, MA after a brief illness. Madison was born in Albany on July 5, 1998 to Harold A. Jr. and Keri A. (Ryan) Stern. She was a senior at Averill Park High School and attended Questar III for the culinary program. She had a passion for baking and planned to attend SCCC in the fall, where she hoped to become a professional baker. Madison worked at Crystal Cove in the summer of 2015 improving those skills, as well as Absolute T-Shirt, and she was known as one of the best babysitters around. Madi began Girl Scouts at age 5 and continued for 9 years to become a Junior. She carried those values with her, using some of her free time volunteering at Doors of Hope, St. Joseph House, Mt. Ida Food Pantry, and various church events, including being a Eucharistic Minister at St. Henry's. Madison was very active and played tennis for APHS for four years, where she made the tennis team after rarely picking up a racket. She also played recreational and travel softball for Classie Lassies, and passed on her knowledge to upcoming athletes by volunteering at Algonquin's All Sports Camp. Madi treasured camping and campfires, as well as swimming with her sisters in the summer. She held a special place in her heart for baking or cooking with her family, reading, decorating her room and crafting. She especially loved to create elaborate nail art for herself, her sisters and friends. Madison will be forever remembered as a beautiful person, inside and out, and her kind and caring ways will never be forgotten. In addition to her parents Harold and Keri, Madison is survived by her sisters Anna Lucia and Sophia Nicole Stern. Granddaughter of Timothy J. "Pop" and MaryAnne "Gwee" Ryan and Harold A. Sr. "Papa" and the late Natalie "Nina" Stern. Goddaughter of Timothy F. Ryan and the late JoAnne Stern. Madison is survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Mac and Molly. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life and may call at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park on Friday, February, 19 from 4-8PM. The Funeral will be at St. Henry's on Saturday at 11AM, where a Mass of Resurrection will be offered. All are welcome to attend. To honor Madison's giving nature, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a charity of one's choice.
