North Greenbush-Linda Mary Tremante, 79, resident of Summit Senior Living at Eastwyck, died at home on December 12, 2022.
Linda was born on September 1, 1943, in Gloversville, New York. She was the daughter of Dr. Louis Tremante and Catherine Althea Tremante, both of whom are deceased. She is survived by four siblings: sister, Natalie A. Kauffman (husband Roger) of Morristown, New Jersey; brother, Louis P. Tremante (wife Maureen) of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Michael Tremante of Clifton Park, New York; and half-sister Antoinette J. Mowrey (husband Timothy) of Longmont, Colorado. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews who live across the country.
After graduating from Gloversville High School, Linda attended Fulton County Community College where she studied Secretarial Sciences and graduated with an Associates Degree. She eventually moved to the Albany, New York area, having accepted a position with the University of the State of New York Education Department. Over the years she held a variety of positions within the Department. When she retired, she received a Certificate of Recognition for 30 years of outstanding professionalism, commitment and extraordinary contributions.
During those years of living in Albany, Linda developed and pursued many interests. Early on she was very active as a volunteer in the Albany Community Theater. She was talented with a sewing machine and worked with the theater costume crew creating and maintaining their wardrobes. She received a Commendation from the Albany Mayor for outstanding contributions as a volunteer. She also was gifted with knitting needles, crewel work and embroidery. She created many beautiful pillows and colorful afghans which she gifted to family members. She had a little garden and took pride in the tomatoes and herbs she grew. Cooking, and especially baking at Christmas was also one of her pleasures.
She had a great love of animals, especially cats, any number of which she owned as pets over the years. She was a reader, a music lover and a fan of old movies. A woman of many interests and talents.
She continued to live in Albany until recently when she sold her home and moved into Summit Senior Living at Eastwyck.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Linda on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, New York. Visitation begins at 10am with Service starting at 11am. Linda attended St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church on Delaware Avenue in Albany. A private internment will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville, New York where she was born.
