Lawrence Nardacci

Slingerlands-For 20 years, Lawrence "Larry" Nardacci, age 73, endured many health issues always meeting the challenges with strength. Unable to fight any longer, he lost his final battle on Monday, August 7, 2023, leaving behind his loving, devastated family to mourn him.

Larry was born on October 27, 1949 to Lawrence and Adeline Fiacco (Dolly) Nardacci, spending his early years on Broadway in Rensselaer, before moving to Wellington Avenue in Albany NY. There he met and became lifelong friends to Alfred Testa and James Severino, who to this day have shown love, friendship, and support throughout all his journeys.

Larry was an avid sportsman and athlete playing baseball (his first love) and football at CBA and Cardinal McCloskey Memorial HS until graduation in 1967. His speed and gifted glove served him well as a 3rd baseman. His love of the NY Yankees was unsurpassed, learning to bat both left and right-handed to emulate Mickey Mantle. His athletic prowess was proven over and over as he played on recreational softball leagues and over 30 adult baseball leagues throughout the capital district. He was an avid bowler and golfer, hitting the local courses with his childhood friend, Jim Severino. Together, with his close friend, Al Testa, he hunted and fished local waterways for over 50 years. It was no secret he loved gambling on the horses and Saratoga in August was his favorite place.

Above all, family was everything to Larry as he leaves behind to mourn and love him, his wife of 49 years, Lynn J., son, Lawrence E. Nardacci, daughter, Natalie M. Macie (Daniel), and his beloved grandchildren, who were the lights of Pop’s life, Anthony L. Nardacci, Bryson R. Macie, and his new little princess, Cordelia J. Macie born in February, his siblings Samantha (Agnes) Fasulo (Dr. Carmen), Thomas Nardacci (Kitty), Nancy Young (Scott), and Sandra Pacifico (Greg), along with his nieces and nephews, Thomas C. Nardacci (Janice), Wayne Whiting (Allyson), David Whiting (Jessica), Nicole Nardacci, Marc Nardacci, Andréa Fasulo, Thomas Stonier, Rebecca Nardacci (Stephen Frese), Cody Young (Stephanie), Dominic Pacifico, and Ava Pacifico, along with many great nephews and nieces who will miss their Uncle Larry’s stories and jokes. Larry’s canine companions were dear to him, with Reggie still waiting for him at home. Larry also leaves behind his Tuesday group of breakfast and lunch friends at The Windowbox.

Larry was employed by NYS, Whiting Movers, Niagara Mohawk, and retired from National Grid in 2007, where he made good friends. In life, Larry had a great sense of humor, loved to tell stories of the “old days” and recent ones, loved being the life of the party, but mostly loved to stay home, host holidays and gatherings, and watch the Yankees, and the deer in his yard. His pleasures were simple. He had a great faith in God. Since their honeymoon in Cape Cod in 1974, Larry and Lynn spent every summer vacationing there, sometimes 2 times a summer. He loved his time there with his family, trying new restaurants, and getting lots of sun. He loved taking long rides, often losing his way while finding new adventures, golf, outdoor fishing and hunting with his friends. His love of Christmas was childlike, and he enjoyed putting up the village homes, and setting up his Lionel trains. But his greatest joys were his children and grandchildren, Larry and Natalie, Anthony, Bryson, and Cordelia who will be lost without their Pop. Please keep his memory alive in your heart and stories.

We would like to thank the staff on C-3 at Albany Med for their care, including Danah, Jericho, Luke, and Alisha. They knew how much we loved him and wanted him with us.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 4-7pm at the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 9:30 am, St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
