Larry J. Hughes

Castleton- Larry J. Hughes, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born in Albany and was the son of the late Marjorie Weatherby Hughes and Willard Hughes. Larry worked for The National Elevator Constructors Local 35, in Albany. He had a love and passion for all things baseball, including the NY Mets. Larry was active in the Rensselaer Little League for 25 years, during which he was the manager of the team who won the District 14 championship. He was also a member of the Rings Fire Company. Being a classic car enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling all over to classic car shows. Larry enjoyed camping with his family on the Great Sacandaga Lake for over 40 years.

Beloved husband of 55 years to Lynette Kramer Hughes. Father of Tracy Barney (Terrence), Courtney Marsello (Daniel), Summer Hahn (Phillip Jr.), Paige Wilson (Steven), Brad Hughes (Camella), and the late Larry Hughes, Jr. and Stephanie Dean/Givney. Grandfather of Sean Barney, Shane Barney, Travis Hughes, Tyler Dean, Casey Dean, Madelyn Marsello, Nicholas Terry, Morgan Hahn, Jason Hahn, Quinn Wilson, Emmi Hughes, Kullyn Hughes. Great grandfather of Lucca and Liam Hughes. Brother of Yvonne Elmendorf and the late Richard Hughes. He is also survived by his pet feline companion, Knucklehead, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Friday, July 28th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 4-7PM. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
