Rensselaer- Kenneth J. Borden age 80 passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Albany Medical Center, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Ken was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region, but enjoyed spending his winters in Venice, FL. He was a graduate of both Vincentian Institute and CBA, and was employed by Niagara Mohawk, retiring after 35 years of service. Ken was a proud Air Force veteran of 20 years, serving two tours of duty during the Persian Gulf War with the 109th Airlift Wing out of Stratton Air National Guard base in Schenectady, NY. Ken loved traveling and being the captain of his boat, Escargot II, where he and his wife navigated numerous inner coastal trips. Ken also enjoyed reading, dancing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Loving husband of Agnes Howard Borden. Devoted father of Kathleen (Rich) Oliver and Rich (Christine) Dessureau. Grandfather of Jes (Tim) Grosman, Rich Dessureau, Jr., Eric Oliver, Justin Dessureau and Kacie Oliver. Great-grandfather of Colton and Hunter Grosman. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Charlotte Borden and his beloved son Kenneth Jr. Funeral mass will be from Historic St. Mary’s Church, Lodge Street, Albany on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12PM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the church prior to the mass from 10AM -12PM. Masks are required, social distancing and occupancy limitation will be observed. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue Menands, NY 12204. Interment with full military honors will be bestowed in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
