East Greenbush-Kathleen R. Beers, age 71, of East Greenbush, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
Formerly from Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine (Procopio) Mariano. She was a 1970 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in Shamokin, PA.
On June 8, 1974, she married Richard F. Beers Jr. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. After living in Harrisburg, PA, and several other states, Kathleen and Richard moved to East Greenbush in 1980 where they raised their family and have lived there ever since.
She was a very kind and caring person who had a strong faith in God, great love and appreciation for her family, and cherished spending time with her close-knit group of friends.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Richard; son Brian Beers and his wife Kristen of Highland Mills, NY; daughter Michelle Beers of Clifton Park and six beloved grandchildren: TyJon, Jerelle, Evan, Dylan, Lucas and Natalie.
She is also survived by her sister Concetta Bilder of Morton, PA along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Joan Benzi and Elaine Mariano, brothers Robert, Jeffrey, Samuel and James Mariano, as well as brother-in-law William Bilder.
Kathleen worked for several years as an administrative assistant at the non-profit organization Circles of Mercy in Rensselaer, and previously at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144 on Monday, July 3 at 11 a.m. Family and friends may call Monday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rensselaer.
In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives can make a donation in Kathleen’s name to Food For The Poor based in Coconut Creek, Florida. You may either donate online at foodforthepoor.org or by calling 1-800-427-9104 and asking for Donor Services.
