Katherine Curran

Rensselaer - Katherine V. Curran, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 8, 2018 surrounded by her family at Van Rensselaer Manor. Katherine was born in Albany November 18, 1929 daughter of the late Howard and Marie Hughes Wagner. She was a 1947 graduate of Columbia High School. Katherine worked at Dorn’s Transportation as a switchboard operator where she met her future husband John. They were married November 21, 1953 at St Mary’s Church in Clinton Heights. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John K. Curran; her daughters Eileen (Richard) LaBelle of East Greenbush, Anne (Skip) Barger of East Greenbush and Maureen (Richard) Reilly of Schodack; her grandchildren Christopher, Lisa, Courtney, Sean and Stephen. Also survived by her nephew Timothy McLaughlin. Katherine was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill McLaughlin. The family would like to thank her home caregivers, Mary Fischer, Karen Mealy and Virginia Cook for all their help in allowing her to remain in her home for as long as she did, The Sisters Of St. Joseph for providing transportation, the staff of DCI and the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor, Unit C3, for their excellent care and support these last six months. Per Katherine’s request all services private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, contributions may be made to “Sisters Care Program”, The Sisters of Saint Joseph, 385 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham NY 12110.
