Troy-Joseph P. Armstrong, 95 of Troy passed away on Thursday May 18, 2017. Joe was born in Albany and lived in Rensselaer and the Glass Lake area before moving to Troy over a year ago. Mr. Armstrong Was employed as a sales representative for Albany Felt Co. now known as Albany International. He was a life member of the Troy Lodge of Elks BPOE # 141. He was US WWII Coast Guard veteran serving on a LCI in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the American Legion Post #1489 in Wynantskill. Joe was an avid golfer and belonged to the Old Timers Golf League at Frear Park. He enjoyed his time at Glass Lake and the deck parties held there and wintering in Florida. Mr. Armstrong was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. Husband of the late Adeline "Addie" Collins Armstrong. He is survived by his son James (Teresa) Armstrong, his daughter Linda (David) Cairns, his loving companion and care giver Jeanne Stinson, his grandchildren Joseph P. Armstrong, II and Andrea M. Taylor, his great grandchildren Jaxon C. Armstrong, Jordan and Sydney Taylor and Stella Rose Armstrong .Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Wednesday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Entombment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
