John P. Kilmartin, Jr.

Rensselaer- John P. “Red” Kilmartin, Jr., age 76, of Rensselaer, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at home. John was born in Albany and has resided in Rensselaer since 1980.

He loved watching the Hallmark channel, Notre Dame Football and the NY Giants, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and beloved pets. John retired from SI Group after 25 years of dedicated service.

John is predeceased by his wife Ann “Punky” Farrell Kilmartin.

Red is survived and will be missed by his daughter Lisa “Lucybird” Poole (Patrick), his beloved companion Anna Lynch, his sister Susan Snyder (the late Charlie), his special niece, Sarah Snyder (Ed Redden), his grandsons, Matthew, Christopher, Nicholas, Johnathan, and Anthony, his great nephews, George and Parker and beloved canine companion, Abby. He was a lifelong friend of, Tony, Edwin “Pete”, Steve, William “Porky.” John is also survived by several more grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Thursday November 2, 2023, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 9 am. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in John’s memory to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands.
