John A. Telfer

New Baltimore- John A. Telfer, age 69, a beloved brother and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2025, while on vacation in Florida. He was the son of the late John C. and Nora (Gilleran) Telfer.

John retired after a distinguished 42 plus-year career with Conrail and CSX, continuing a proud family tradition, following in the footsteps of his father, John "Cy" Telfer, and his grandfather, Cecil Telfer, 50-year careers. He was also a dedicated veteran member of the Selkirk Fire Company No. 3.

He is survived by his brother, Joseph (Susan) Telfer.

John will be reunited with his adored wife, Carol (Dickus) Telfer.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Selkirk Fire Company No. 3, P.O. Box 95, South Bethlehem, NY 12161.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, 54 Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with the family prior to the mass at church beginning at 9 am.
