Rensselaer- Joanne E. Oxley Lebrecht, age, 86 years passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017. She was born in Cooperstown on February 21, 1930 and married her high school sweetheart Ray on September 3, 1949. She graduated as Valedictorian from Van Rensselaer High School Class of 1948. Joanne attended Oneonta College and was a member and organist of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Rensselaer until it's closing. She worked for 35 years at the old Van Rensselaer School as head cook. Daughter of the late William and Leona Saxton Oxley; beloved wife of Raymond W. Lebrecht; devoted mother of Susan Abston, Victoria Lebrecht and Craig (Darlene) Lebrecht; loving grandmother of Carrie (Rudy) Rodriguez, Ken Abston, Rebecca (Mark) Scarborough, Jennifer Tallman, Amanda (Jeff) Fortman, Richard (Bri) Lebrecht and Bonny (Jerry) Sargent; sister of Marilyn (Ronald) Miller and Diana (Thomas) Allen; sister-in-law of Marion Williams, Florence Mahoney, Bradley (Marie) Lebrecht, Roy (Judy) Lebrecht and the late Alfretta Reed and Charles Lebrecht. Also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral will be from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Thursday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Interment will be in Bloomingrove Cemetery, Defreestville. Contributions in Joanne's memory may be made to the American Lung Association 418 Broadway 1st Floor Albany, NY 12207.
