Schodack- JoAnn Sakkestad Schepisi age 71 passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. JoAnn was born in Albany, grew up in the south end and resided most of her life in North Greenbush before moving to Schodack three years ago. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1964. JoAnn worked for St. John's Church for many years and was also employed by NYS Committee on Professional Standards as a secretary. She loved vacations to Florida, especially Cypress Harbour and loved cooking Sunday dinner for her family. Daughter of the late Robert and Jennie Narlo Sakkestad. Wife of Joseph A. Schepisi, Jr. Mother of Craig (Renee) Schepisi, Joe (Jeanie) Schepisi and Robin Leahey (Bill Fiacco). Grandmother of Josh, Nicole, Danielle, Schuyler, Jordan and Peyton. Sister of Roberta Schilling and Jennine Sakkestad. Aunt of Michael and Stephano Schepisi and Carl Shilling. Daughter-in-law of the late Carmella Schepisi. Sister-in-law of Rosemary Nardolillo. Mother in law of Jeff Leahey. Dear friend of Valerie and Pete Femia and Raema and Jim Mitchell. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday morning at 9:00 AM and 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church Herrick Street Rensselaer where the funeral mass will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the funeral home Friday from 4-7PM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to either St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or American Parkinson Disease Association 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY 10305.
