James Vooris

August 26, 1958 — September 27, 2017

Troy- James Joseph "TJ" Vooris passed away on Wednesday Sept. 27, 2017, after a long and courageous battle. Born in Albany, Jim is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Jean Julien Vooris, and their children Brandyn, Jaime and Adam, his mother Joan Vooris . He was predeceased by Norman Vooris and Carlos Nava. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Charlene (Wes) Dobert. His many family members include Rita (Rocco) Floess, Tom (Raeann) Vooris, Donna (Jimmy) Hughes, John (Heather) Vooris, Anne (Steve) Bornt, and Lisa, Bob (Bonnie), Louis, Dean, Kim, Carlos, Victor and Robin Nava. He was a life long member and was especially fond and proud of his Defreestville Fire Department family. He was a member of the New York State Fire Chief's Association. He was employed by CDTA for 17 years and St. Peter's Hospital for 10 years. There is not enough space to list everyone in his intimate circle of Family and friends that he loved. TJ enjoyed life and people. His quick wit and selflessness won him friends from all walks of life and his life taught us all about living. Services will be held at the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer on Sunday at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Sunday prior to the service from 2-6 PM.
